
Many of us do not need much convincing to go on vacation. For others, however, being away from work can seem impossible. Endless reasons why our absence will be detrimental to the success of our current tasks, can deprive us from any rest for years in a row, which often leads to the so-called burnout syndrome.
The symptoms of burnout can often remain unnoticed for a prolonged period of time. ‘Just’ being tired may actually be an alarming signal, that is not so innocent. Without noticing, that feeling might gradually transform into an extended period of exhaustion, which then leads to irritation, lack of motivation and interest in life, as well as cognitive problems. Needless to say, all that deteriorates the quality of your work and overall performance, which makes you feel even more stressed, trying to push yourself harder and further to the brink of exhaustion.
