“If you are well nourished, you don’t need to snack”, says nutritionist Amelia Freer. It is suggested, that the widely proclaimed modern day diet of regular snacking might be “inflammatory”: it keeps the levels of insulin in the bloodstream constantly elevated, which puts pressure on the pancreas and liver and brings our bodies into fat-storage mode. The constantly elevated insulin levels are also associated with the possibility of decreasing the body’s sensitivity to insulin, which is associated with diabetes.
Some experts take this statement even further, believing that snacking might be the major cause for obesity these days:
